Among the many businesses adversely affected by the recent flood is Mike Anderson’s Seafood at 14140 Greenwell Springs Road in Central. The popular restaurant actually got through the flood with what appeared to be relatively little damage and was able to open for business on Aug. 20.

In a statement this morning, however, the restaurant’s owners say they will now be closing temporarily in order to make flood repairs.

“At this point, we are reassessing damage and gathering information on necessary repairs,” says Mike Anderson Jr., whose father opened the first Mike Anderson’s Seafood on Highland Road in 1975. “We are not real sure when we will be able to reopen.”

Chip Robert, whose family is related to the Andersons and co-owns the restaurant chain, says plans definitely call for reopening but he can’t say when. He had no other details as of this morning.

Robert and his father, Harry Robert, are the nephew and brother-in-law respectively of Mike Anderson Sr. For years, they have owned and operated the Mike Anderson’s restaurant in Gonzales. Earlier this year, they acquired an equity stake in the restaurant chain, which has two locations in Baton Rouge and the New Orleans Riverwalk in addition to the Central location.
