Fremin Construction has preliminary plans for luxury townhomes at 3757 Brightside Lane that will be modeled on the company’s recent development, Chatsworth Court Condominiums, on South Kenilworth Parkway. “That turned out to be a gorgeous development,” says Loret Fremin, who co-owns the business with her husband, Francis. The new development is planned for a vacant 2.5-acre tract of land on the south side of Brightside Lane, between the Riverbend subdivision and River Road, but closer to the levee than the adjacent neighborhood. “This rezoning is consistent with the FuturEBR land use for this Brightside property, and therefore we are hopeful and pray that it will be approved,” Fremin says. Fremin Construction turned in an application earlier this month with the city-parish Planning Commission to rezone the property from A1 to A2.5, Fremin says. The townhomes have not been designed yet. However, if approved, Fremin says the development could include as many as 20 high-end, curbside townhomes. “We’ve been in construction for 14 years, so we definitely know nothing is guaranteed,” Fremin says. While development designs are under way with architects and engineers, Fremin says the townhomes will include amenities such as granite countertops and hardwood floors. She adds that the rezoning application is tentatively scheduled to go before the Planning Commission in October or November, depending on whether the construction firm requests a deferral to finish on-site plans. —Adam Pearson
