LSU students ranks No. 41 out of 697 U.S. colleges and universities for the marriage rate of graduates born in the early 1980s.

Overall, 57% of the LSU graduates born between 1980 and 1984 were married in 2014, according to an Equality of Opportunity Project analysis published in The New York Times.

The analysis examines education and economic mobility. Researchers followed the economic educational progress of Americans born between 1980 and 1991. For each year, they tracked who attended which college, how much money their parents made and whether they were married by 2014.

They found a strong correlation between marriage and economic class within the American higher education system as a whole. Marriage rates for recent graduates were low across the board. But as graduates moved into their 30s, those born into upper income families were more likely to be married, when compared to graduates born into low-income families.

This holds true for LSU as well. Among students who comprise the highest income households—or the top one-fifth—62% were married, compared to 39% of those from the lowest income households.

LSU-Shreveport (17), Louisiana Tech (20), University of Louisiana-Lafayette (21), Southeastern (33) and McNeese (37) all checked in ahead of LSU-Baton Rouge on the list. Southern University is ranked No. 333 while Xavier is No. 596.

Ivy League students were the least likely to marry.
