LSU vaulted up in the AP college football poll, after the Tigers’ high-profile win over Oregon Saturday night. The Tigers were ranked second in the Associated Press poll, up from their fourth-place spot at the start of the year. Oklahoma continued its hold on the top spot, while LSU narrowly vaulted over Alabama, which had been ranked second at the start of the year. LSU got 17 first-place votes, compared to 32 for the Sooners and 9 for the Crimson Tide. Oregon plunged to 13, after being ranked third in the first poll of the year. LSU beat Oregon 40-27 Saturday night.

Sports Illustrated put Tiger running back Michael Ford on the cover of its Sept. 12 issue with the headline “It’s Go Time.” The magazine isn’t alone in having trouble spelling “geaux” properly. During his postgame press conference Saturday, Coach Les Miles tried to spell “geaux” and ended up with “guaux.” To take a look at the cover, click here.
