Gordon McKernan, a local personal injury attorney, plans to air a 3D commercial during the Super Bowl Feb. 6. McKernan’s spot will air during the first local ad break in the game, which is slated for shortly after 6 p.m., says Pam Jones, a spokeswoman for the office. The commercial will feature a 3D version of McKernan’s “G” logo, along with a crashed car and McKernan throwing a phone at the viewers. McKernan got the idea for the commercial after he took his children to see a 3D movie. But pulling off the spot wasn’t easy: Jones says it cost four times as much to make as one of McKernan’s typical TV commercials. The firm is hoping the buzz for the spot makes the investment pay off. The red and blue glasses needed to see the spot in 3D will be available at 46 locations across the Capital Region, including Domino’s Pizza, Kean’s Cleaners, Fox 44 and McKernan’s law office. —Timothy Boone
