The Port of Lake Charles is putting the welcome mat out for a Korea-based company that specializes in environmental business ventures. Port commissioners voted unanimously to support the U.S Dong Sung Ecore project that is proposed to convert used tires into diesel and oil. Port director William Rase said the company intends to lease 20 acres of port property for 30 years, with a 20-year option with a $60,000 annual lease payment. The American Press reports the company expects to break ground in March. It will create about 80 construction jobs and, once the facility is built, from 20 to 30 permanent jobs.
