Surrounded by businesses along the bustling Essen Lane corridor, a lone house located across the street from Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center was purchased by the hospital for $1 million.
OLOL President and CEO Scott Wester says in a statement to Daily Report that the property was purchased at fair market value and that the hospital has no immediate plans for the property.
“The Essen frontage property we recently acquired is contiguous to our other properties in the area and fits into the recently completed master plan for our new freestanding children’s hospital that opens in 2019,” he says.
Located at the corner of Essen Lane and Margaret Ann Avenue, the house is surrounded by businesses, including Southeastern Louisiana University’s School of Nursing and Jacobs Engineering Group. Built in 1979, RE/MAX’s website estimates the house is a little over 1,000 square feet.
The property was sold by Gwendolyn Scott Goings on behalf of the Estate of Harriet Hilliard Scott.
