La. online classified ads up 8.1% in July

The number of online classified ads purchased by Louisiana businesses increased by 8.1% in July, when compared to the year before. That’s below the national average, where classified ads were up 12%, from just over 3.7 million to nearly 4.2 million, reports The Conference Board, which released the figures this morning. The global nonprofit says there were 42,500 classified ads that ran this month from Louisiana employers, up from the 39,300 that ran in July 2010. The number of new ads increased by 12.5% statewide, from 24,000 in 2010 to 27,000 in July. Nationally, new help-wanted ads were up by nearly 17%, to 2.62 million.
