Kleinpeter starts ice cream distribution in Lake Charles

Kleinpeter Farms Dairy milk and ice cream is now available in Lake Charles, beginning today. The products at first will be carried at the two Albertsons stores in Lake Charles, but Jeff Kleinpeter, president of the dairy, says he hopes to add more locations. “We want to catch people in all the towns between Lafayette and Lake Charles,” he says. Shoppers in Lake Charles had been asking Kleinpeter to start distributing there for years, but until now, no stores west of Lafayette carried the company’s milk. “We weren’t thinking outside the box,” Kleinpeter says. “We were asking why, instead of why not.”—Timothy Boone
