James announces plans to run for new House seat

Ted James, a local attorney, says he plans to run for a newly created north Baton Rouge House seat. James says he will run for the District 101 seat as a Democrat. He’s the second candidate to declare for the seat, Harold Williams, a local insurance agent, plans to run as a Republican. The district, centered near the middle of Florida Boulevard, was created during the recent redistricting special session. James, a former Business Report Forty Under Forty winner, has served as a policy adviser to former Gov. Kathleen Blanco, as a staff attorney for the state House of Representatives and as a special counsel to the Secretary of Revenue. The House election is set for Oct. 22, and qualifying will begin Sept. 6.
