More than 4,200 organizations in Louisiana have been stripped of their tax-exempt status after failing to file legally required annual reports for three consecutive years. Locally, the list of now taxable entities includes chapters of fraternities, federations of state government workers and churches. The IRS says the vast majority of these organizations are defunct and that it’s willing to work with existing groups listed to restore their tax-exempt status. See the list of groups at irs.gov.
