DECLARATIONS OF INDEPENDENTS

Political parties are really just money machines to elect candidates who want to pledge allegiance to their platform (“PRINT HEADLINE HERE,” April 14). Republicans and Democrats are two sides of the same coin. The real benefit of stating “No party” on a voter registration is that I don’t get near as much mail and phone calls from the parties asking for money.

I totally disagree with Mr. Bernie Pinsonat. I am registered as an Independent–or in backwards Louisiana, a “No Party” voter. However, I am a chronic voter and rarely miss an election. I prefer to choose my candidate based upon my own belief system and values, and sometimes that’s a Republican candidate; other times a Democrat. I do not need someone else to tell me what I believe and support. I want the freedom of choice.

THE GOVERNOR VS. IBM

I don’t like this law, but I doubt IBM will have trouble attracting talent to Louisiana because of this law (“IBM tells Jindal the Marriage and Conscience Act will make it harder to attract talent to Louisiana,” Daily Report, April 17). Louisiana presents many more obstacles to attracting talent that are way more important than this law.

This bill is just bad for business. Day by day we realize it more and more.
