Honeywell International says it will spend $33 million to expand its north Baton Rouge chemical plant to allow the facility to produce a substance for use in energy-efficient insulation and environmentally friendly aerosols and refrigerants. The work, which will start in December and be completed by 2013, will create 11 new jobs at the plant with an average salary of $64,000 plus benefits. The work will create nearly 100 construction jobs. Honeywell officials say the expansion helps secure the long-term viability of the plant, which has about 200 employees. “Honeywell could have made their reinvestment in facilities in Asia and Europe, but they chose one of their Louisiana facilities,” says Gov. Bobby Jindal. “This is further proof of just how competitive our state is in attracting national and even international investment to expand our companies and create more Louisiana jobs.”
