Mayor Kip Holden plans to place a $748 million bond issue on the agenda for the Aug. 10 Metro Council meeting. Holden’s move comes after a majority of council members refused last week to take the routine step of moving the tax proposal onto the agenda for the Aug. 10 meeting. Next week is the last day the council can approve the bond issue in order to get it on the Nov. 19 ballot, as the mayor wants. Holden says he’s received encouragement from people who want to see him make a third attempt at putting the bond issue on the ballot. “I hear the people over and over again, and they are saying, ‘Stick with it and fight it out, because we have to have these things done,’ ” Holden says.
