Highland Park Marketplace has entered its final phase of development, with developers Campbell Companies and Big Horn Development breaking ground on Building 400.
Once complete, Building 400—the final piece of the upscale retail center—will feature eight suites totaling 16,450 square feet of space. Located at the corner of Highland Road and Old Perkins Road East, Highland Park Marketplace is anchored by Alexander’s Highland Market.
In a prepared statement, Will Chadwick of Elifin Realty, who handles the leasing for the development, says a lease has been signed for the corner 3,998-square-foot anchor suite in the building. However, the agency declines to name the tenant, saying an announcement will follow in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, Chadwick says both local and national retailers are interested in occupying space, though suites are still available.
“We’ve worked hard to create an asset for the community and to bring in tenants who will be an exciting fit for the local population and the wider Baton Rouge population as well,” says project developer Brian Douglas Campbell Jr., in a prepared statement.
The groundbreaking comes one month after the announcements of several new tenants for the shopping center, including Paperwhite Stationery Boutique, Ochsner Urgent Care and Fab’rik, along with the sales of two outparcel lots to Red River Bank and The Pediatric Place.
With construction now underway, the building is expected to open in Summer 2020.
