Hancock Bank and IberiaBank have made U.S. Banker magazine’s list of the top performing mid-tier banks in the country. Hancock, based in Gulfport, Miss., was ranked 12th on the list, which is based on average of return on equity for a three year period ending in 2008. IberiaBank, based in Lafayette, was ranked 52nd on the list, which covers financial institutions with between $2 billion and $10 billion in assets. Alan Kline, editor-in-chief, says Hancock and IberiaBank were the only two institutions with a significant Baton Rouge presence that made the list.
