The Simple Greek restaurant and a Baton Rouge General Express Care Clinic will move into LSU’s Nicholson Gateway Development, the university announced this afternoon.

The restaurant and clinic join Matherne’s Market, Wendy’s, Starbucks, Private Stock and Frutta Bowls in the 50,000-square-foot retail component of Nicholson Gateway. The newly opened development is located on a 28-acre site of Nicholson Drive, between West Chimes Street and Skip Bertman Drive—the former site of Alex Box Stadium.

This will be the first Louisiana location for The Simple Greek, a concept similar to Subway or Chipotle Mexican Grill where customers customize their entrees.

The Baton Rouge General Express Care facility will be open seven days a week to treat serious, but non-life threatening illnesses and injuries. The clinic will also feature a lab, X-ray machine and an electrocardiogram, or EKG, for more serious injuries.

The LSU Property Foundation, affiliate of the LSU Foundation, is spearheading the Nicholson Gateway project, with Stirling Properties serving as its retail developer, retail property manager and leasing broker.

Along with the retail offerings, Nicholson Gateway also includes 763 units of apartment-style housing for more than 1,500 students.
