Bill Weir, co-anchor of Good Morning America Weekend Edition, was at Jackson Middle School today with an ABC film crew, working on a story about Teach for America and the rural school’s success story with its LEAP test results released Monday.

Allison El Koubi, who began her career at the East Feliciana school as an English teacher in 2000 via TFA, helped turn the school around as its principal. “I’m bursting with pride over our staff and students,” El Koubi says. “They worked really hard this year. This kind of recognition will give credibility to what they’ve been doing day in and day out.”

The ABC crew showed up to the school early this morning to get footage of the sixth-grade to eighth-grade students getting off the bus. They spent most of the day in the classrooms of TFA member teachers, says Sarah Young, development manager for TFA South Louisiana. They wrapped up filming around 3 p.m. Young says the segment most likely will air this weekend.—Rebecca Breeden
