WHAT IS YOUR BIRTHDATE?
December 13, 1988.
WHEN YOU WERE A CHILD, WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GREW UP?
A business owner.
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB, HOW OLD WERE YOU AND WHAT DID YOU LEARN FROM IT?
Sales associate at The Little House in Town Center when I was 19 years old; I learned to absolutely love working.
DO YOU HAVE A MENTOR? IF SO, WHO IS IT AND WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED FROM THIS PERSON?
Melody Meyer, who retired from Chevron with the highest position any female had earned in her time and is now on the board of BP. She taught me that creating something yourself can be infinitely more rewarding than a traditional career in industry.
WHAT TIME DO YOU GET UP ON WORKDAY MORNINGS?
5 a.m.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PLACE FOR A BUSINESS LUNCH IN BATON ROUGE, AND WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE DISH THERE?
Ichiban’s—Rainbow Roll.
WHAT WAS YOUR PROFESSIONAL “AHA MOMENT”?
I interned for Chevron as a petroleum engineering student in college. I was given a vastly oversized flame-resistant suit to wear when I visited the field. My first thought was, “Why doesn’t anyone make these to fit women well and look nice?” Lightbulb.
WHAT WOULD BE YOUR ADVICE FOR FUTURE FORTY UNDER 40 HONOREES?
If you have an idea, do it. Take action. You’ll never regret it.
WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT THE BATON ROUGE AREA (OR WHY YOU CHOOSE TO LIVE HERE)?
The city has such a relaxing attitude. The people are genuine and go out of their way to display kindness. The city has so many beautiful areas, the LSU lakes especially. And the food! Baton Rouge is the only place where I constantly crave the local restaurants when I’m away.
DESCRIBE THE QUALITY OF LIFE IN THIS REGION; ANY CHANGES/IMPROVEMENTS YOU WOULD MAKE?
The quality of life is high, especially when our Tigers are winning! But the traffic definitely puts a damper on afternoons in the city. Any way to improve traffic would be a step in the right direction. Maybe building a loop or another bridge could help.
AS A COMMUNITY, WHAT SHOULD BE OUR TOP PRIORITY?
Education and cultural programs for the youth. And businesses where well-cultured and creative young adults can thrive.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE APP AT THE MOMENT AND WHY?
SHOPIFY—it’s where all the magic happens. It’s the e-commerce platform for Sparkle City and HauteWork, where sales and analytics are tracked!
WHAT WAS THE BEST VACATION YOU HAVE EVER TAKEN?
Three-week tour of Southeast Asia; Vietnam is my favorite country I’ve been to.
IF YOU COULD GO BACK IN TIME, WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE YOUR 18-YEAR-OLD SELF?
Life is a journey, and it’s all going to work out even better than you can expect. Relax and trust the path you’re on. Your life will change significantly every five years, so don’t fear becoming too comfortable.
DO YOU HAVE A BUCKET LIST? IF SO, WHAT ARE THE TOP 3 THINGS ON IT?
- Earn my pilot license (double engine planes).
2. Sail around the world.
3. Cheer on the Tigers from the field of the 2020 National Championship game.
