Marlene Most grew up baking treats in an Easy-Bake Oven and eagerly cooking alongside her mom at home. Fast forward to 2015 and she has self-produced gourmet products in grocery stores all around Baton Rouge.
As 225 Dine reports, Most is the founder of Most Delightful Foods, a company she describes as small but innovative and appetizing. After a 20-year career as a heart-health dietitian, she says she knew there were ways to make healthy food taste great. So she set out to create the small specialty food company.
Most Delightful Foods provides a line of cheese spreads, dip mixes and healthy “munching” snacks like Almond Blueberry and Macadamia Mango trail mixes. She got her start selling snack mixes at local farmers markets in 2011. In 2014, she created Taste the Seasons, a product line of five cheese spreads and dip mixes, with a goal to get them on the shelves of local grocery stores.
The five varieties of cheese spreads and dips—Cajun Trinity, Gazpacho, Spinach Mushroom, Tzatziki and Vegetable Tray—can now be found at Calandro’s Supermarket, Alexander’s Highland Market, Red Stick Spice Co. and Bet-R Grocery.
The snack mixes, which she continues selling exclusively at local farmers markets, are created in a small commercial kitchen, where she combines dried vegetables and spice blends she developed through trial and error.
“My mixes are a little different because everything you need is already in them,” she says. “You don’t have to buy mushrooms for the Spinach Mushroom mix or tomatoes for the Gazpacho mix.”
