Five finalists have been named in the search for a new chancellor at Southern University. Those recommended by the chancellor search committee are: Earl G. Yarbrough, president of Savannah State University; Belinda Childress Anderson, president of Vanguard Anderson and former president of Virginia Union University; James Llorens, assistant chief administrative officer to Mayor Kip Holden and Southern’s former dean of graduate studies; Robert Jennings, administrator for Gems Inc. and former president of Alabama A&M University; and Walter Kimbrough, president of Philander Smith College. The five candidates will be interviewed April 18-20. The search committee is slated to make a recommendation to Ronald Mason, the Southern System president, at its April 21 meeting.
