Five finalists for police chief for the Baton Rouge Police Department have been selected by Mayor Kip Holden’s advisory committee. The finalists are Willard Bates, a criminal investigator with the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality; Jamie Fields, a former Detroit deputy police chief; Lonnie Lockett, Baton Rouge Police Department Major Assault Division commander; April Overman, a former New Orleans police officer; and Donald White, Louisiana State Police Emergency Services Unit commander. Bates and White are former Baton Rouge Police officers. The advisory committee culled the initial group of 30 applicants.
