NEW ORLEANS [AP] — The state will begin distributing $30 million in aid to help fishermen hit by last year’s hurricanes.

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Secretary Robert Barham is scheduled to announce the program Wednesday. The money will help fishermen hit by hurricanes Gustav and Ike.

Since Katrina, Louisiana’s fishing industry has suffered about $750 million in damages, according to state officials.
