Joseph H. “Jay” Campbell Jr. has been a fixture at Associated Grocers Inc. of Baton Rouge for 39 years, and has been president/CEO for the past 16. AG bills itself as “dedicated to the support and success of the independent retail grocer.” To that end, AG offers not only a supply chain for small grocers, but also professional business services such as accounting, advertising, engineering, marketing, technology and merchandising. Today, AG supports more than 220 independent retailers in several states. Campbell says he enjoys serving others and that his “strong personal faith in God” drives his life and work. Having long overcome his “personal pride,” Campbell hopes his best days lie ahead; he says he is “still waiting” to achieve his greatest professional accomplishment. In his spare time, he likes to “attempt to play golf.”
