The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis released data on the real GDP for counties in 2018 today.
GDP increased in 2,375 counties, decreased in 717, and was unchanged in 21 in 2018, according to estimates released today.
East Baton Rouge Parish reported 5.5% growth in GDP compared to 2017, with over $32 billion reported, the data shows. East Baton Rouge was ranked No. 1 in the state in terms of dollar amount, but No. 7 in terms of growth rate compared to the previous year.
Nearby parishes also saw growth between 2017 and 2018, including Ascension (3.5%), West Baton Rouge (1.2%) and Livingston (2.2%). Iberville Parish saw a small GDP decrease of 0.5%.
