Winnings at downtown Baton Rouge’s two riverboat casinos were up 9.5% in January, when compared with the year before. The two casinos won nearly $15.9 million, compared with $14.5 million in January 2010, according to figures released today by Louisiana State Police. The Belle of Baton Rouge, the oldest casino in the city, saw the biggest increase. The Belle won nearly $6.1 million, a 19% jump over the $5 million it brought in during January 2010. Hollywood Casino Baton Rouge continued to be the market leader, with $9.8 million in winnings. That was 4.4% more than the nearly $9.4 million it brought in during January 2010. Louisiana’s state-licensed casinos won $191.3 million from players in January, up from $189.7 million in 2010.
