The Dow Jones Industrial Average crossed the 12,000 mark today for the first time since June 2008. Investors shrugged off weak earnings results and focused on President Barack Obama’s call to overhaul corporate taxes. The average climbed to 12,006 early Wednesday. During his State of the Union address Tuesday, Obama said he wanted to close corporate tax loopholes and use the additional revenue to lower corporate tax rates for the first time in 25 years. He also called for a five-year spending freeze. That offset weak earnings results from Boeing, Xerox and Eastman Kodak.
