Dempsey’s is set to open its second restaurant today in the old Vic’s Chophouse building on Jefferson Highway. Josh Armand, a manager for Dempsey’s, says the Jefferson location will be kept “as close as possible” to the original Coursey Boulevard location. Dempsey’s, which has been open for 12 years, sells po-boys, plate lunches and fried seafood. Armand says the restaurant liked the Jefferson location because it’s close to a number of neighborhoods and businesses. The building had been empty since March, when Vic’s Chophouse closed. Dempsey’s will initially be open just for lunch, but it will open for dinner in the next few weeks. “It all depends on how fast we get up and going,” Armand says.—Timothy Boone
