For the fourth time in six years, a Louis DeAngelo’s Casual Italian Dining location in the Baton Rouge area has gone out of business.

Daily Report has confirmed that the pizzeria and Italian restaurant’s location at 9952 Sullivan Road in Central is no longer open.

Owner Louis DeAngelo did not return multiple phone calls and text messages seeking comment.

The Central location, which opened in 2011, closed down sometime late last month. It follows the shuttering of DeAngelo’s restaurants on Jefferson Highway, Coursey Boulevard and Lee Drive.

Other locations on Bluebonnet Boulevard, in Denham Springs and in Prairieville are still open.

The former DeAngelo’s site at 13686 Coursey Blvd. is now Nando’s Mexican Restaurant & Cantina. Louis DeAngelo, who founded the pizzeria and Italian chain in 1991, is an operational partner for the restaurant.

In addition to the closure of the Louis DeAngelo’s Casual Italian Dining restaurants, Zolia Bistro, which DeAngelo opened downtown in 2011, also has shut its doors. DeAngelo told Daily Report in December that the closure was temporary.

But earlier this summer, Mike Wampold, who owns II City Plaza in which Zolia was located, told Daily Report the restaurant would not be reopening and that he planned to find another food-service tenant for the nearly 3,000-square-foot space.
