Baton Rouge is a prime market for quick-service and fast-casual restaurant chains.
This is the takeaway of real estate brokers and developers who attended ReCon, the International Council of Shopping Center’s annual convention, which took place in Las Vegas May 22-25.
One real estate broker told Daily Report more quick-service restaurants could even set up shop in Baton Rouge.
“All asset types are hot right now, but especially the QSRs (quick-service restaurants) and fast-casual chains,” says Jonathan Walker with Maestri Murrell Commercial Real Estate. “I definitely think we’ll see more QSRs in Baton Rouge.”
Also this week, Arthur Lancaster, the developer behind the 281-acre Timber Ridge Subdivision at Tiger Bend and Babin roads, says he has made minimal changes to his planned cluster development, though he did add a walking trail as another amenity for the community.
Opponents living near the development voiced their concerns at an April 18 Planning Commission meeting about lot sizes in the planned subdivision, as well as potential flooding and traffic issues.
The commission deferred voting on the development for 60 days at the April meeting. Lancaster and area residents are set to meet next Thursday.
