Gaye Hamilton, manager of the state’s Cultural Economy Program, will explain the benefits of the new Cultural District designation for downtown Friday at the Shaw Center. Beginning Friday, original artwork sold in the downtown Arts & Entertainment District will be exempt from state and local taxes, and owner-occupied or revenue-producing historic structures in the district are eligible for rehabilitation tax credits. The meeting is 10 a.m. Friday in the LSU Museum of Art third floor conference room at the Shaw Center. Go to downtownbatonrouge.org for more information.
