The LA DOTD Federal Credit Union is changing its name to Main Street Financial Credit Union. Cary J. Anderson, president and CEO of the Denham Springs-based financial institution, says the name change reflects the diversity of the credit union. For the past few years, the credit union has been open to anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Livingston, Calcasieu or Cameron parishes. “The board believes it’s time for a more inclusive name that represents our 21st century institution,” says Judy Wascom, chairwoman of the credit union. LA DOTD is following the trend of other local credit unions that have switched to more inclusive names in the past few years. COPO Federal Credit Union became Keypoint Federal Credit Union, and Baton Rouge Teachers Federal Credit Union became Neighbors Federal Credit Union. The name change becomes effective July 20. LA DOTD, founded 70 years ago, has $103 million in assets. Along with the name change, Main Street is looking at adding locations in Livingston and Lake Charles.
