One Way Deliverance Ministries has purchased the property formerly occupied by The Voice of Pentecost Church at 10770 Greenwell Springs Road, just west of North Sherwood Forest Boulevard, for $1,276,000. The sale closed on Nov. 13 and includes a sanctuary and classroom building that encompasses about 12,500 square feet, as well as a gym with meeting rooms and an 8,500-square-foot kitchen. The buildings occupy a site that is a little over 2 acres. Based upon the combined area of both buildings, the sale price per square foot works out to about $61, which is far less than it would cost to build.
One Way Deliverance Ministries was represented in the deal by Pastor Barbara W. Rogers, and The Voice of Pentecost was represented by Robert W. Martin. Evan P. Scroggs (aka “Scroggins”) with NAI/Latter & Blum Commercial Properties brokered the transaction. One Way Deliverance Ministries started in New Orleans and moved to the Baton Rouge area after Hurricane Katrina. It has until now been occupying a building on Wooddale Boulevard. The ministry serves the community through a food bank, clothing bank, music and youth ministries, as well as worship services on Friday nights and Sunday mornings. The Voice of Pentecost congregation has moved to a new location on Frenchtown Road.
