There’s good news for CJ Brown realtor Alissa Allphin Jenkins.
On Monday, REALTOR magazine, the official publication of the National Association of Realtors, announced that 27-year-old Jenkins and 29 other young realtors from around the country have been named to the it’s 2016 30 Under 30 class.
The distinction is given to successful young professionals who’ve demonstrated their on-the-job innovation, leadership skills and have embraced community involvement. Jenkins learned in March that she was among 50 finalists for this year’s class. She’s the only Louisiana realtor on the list.
“Choosing young professionals to be part of REALTOR magazine’s annual 30 Under 30 program is a monumental task—largely because the field of applicants is stunningly strong,” the magazine says in a post announcing the names of the finalists. “Each candidate brings impressive qualifications to the table.”
The magazine says nearly 400 young realtors under the age of 30 applied to be a part of this year’s class, which was narrowed down to 50 finalists and then to 30. Jenkins competed against young realtors from cities such as San Francisco, Chicago and Minot, North Dakota.
The magazine says many in this year’s class—which includes broker-owners, buyer reps, solo salespersons and team leaders—exhibit an idealist nature that’s propelled them far in their careers and tell stories of working tirelessly to advocate for their clients.
This was Jenkins second time applying for the distinction. Her profile will appear in the magazine’s May/June 2016 issue.
“I feel so humbled to win this award,” Jenkins says in an email. “They had over 400 applicants from all over the country so I knew my chances were small. I take my career very seriously, and to receive this award confirms my calling and efforts. It makes me happy to know my grandfather, John Allphin, who passed away, and my dad, Johnnie, who is a current real estate appraiser can see me following in their footsteps.”
