City Pork Deli & Charcuterie is opening a new cafe inside the Design Building on LSU’s campus this spring, the university announced today.

Construction on the new location at the Julian T. White Design Atrium began in December, LSU says in a press release issued this morning.

The new location will be open throughout the week for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu will feature City Pork’s signature sandwiches such as the Big Pig and Cubano as well as house-made charcuterie and cheese boards, gelato, coffee, appetizers and salads.

Managing Partner Stephen Hightower calls it a “great business move for City Pork” in a prepared statement. Margot Carroll, assistant vice president of LSU Auxiliary Services, says it’s also a great opportunity for the university to partner with a local brand and address the “food desert” that is the Design Building.

Hightower and former business partner Trey Williams founded City Pork Deli & Charcuterie in 2013 in the Perkins Road overpass area. They later opened City Pork Brasserie & Bar on Jefferson Highway and City Pork Kitchen & Pie on Exchequer Drive—which has since closed—and Southfin Southern Poké in the Southdowns Shopping Center before parting ways last year.

Hightower retained ownership of City Pork restaurant after the split. City Pork former Executive Chef Ryan Andre resigned soon after Williams and Hightower parted ways. He was replaced by Mike Brewer as corporate chef and Scott Gautreau as executive chef.
