The Baton Rouge Area Chamber announced today that Ryan Cooney has been promoted to director of business development. Cooney will be responsible for business attraction, project management and economic development in East Baton Rouge Parish. The position, which was created as part of the professional services agreement between BRAC’s 501(c)3 affiliate, the Greater Baton Rouge Economic Partnership, and the parish, oversees the business development arm for the parish. Cooney previously worked with BRAC as a project manager for East Baton Rouge Parish and the Baton Rouge Area Digital Industries Consortium. He began his tenure at BRAC as a business development intern and has been with the organization for four years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in management from LSU’s E.J. Ourso College of Business. Cooney replaces Chad Cornett, who resigned in February, according to BRAC. He also will replace Cornett as executive director of BRADIC.
