Editor’s note: This story has been updated since its original publication to include comments from CC’s Coffee House President and CEO Celton Hayden Jr.
CC’s Coffee House will be moving out of its downtown location at 327 North Blvd. next week after exercising the opt-out clause in its lease.
Gayle Carnahan, property manager for the space, says he is not sure if the company is moving to another location or leaving downtown altogether. The company did not give him a reason why it is opting out of the lease.
Carnahan, who also manages the property for the Hotel Indigo and the Lyceum Ballroom, says once CC’s exercised its opt-out clause, it had 90 days to move out. The 90 days are up Dec. 18.
“CC’s has enjoyed serving the Downtown Baton Rouge community for seven years,” CC’s Coffee House President and CEO Celton Hayden Jr. says in a prepared statement, before adding, “Going forward, CC’s will continue to grow and Downtown Baton Rouge is an important part of our plans for the future.”
The company is not moving to a new location right now, but will have a downtown presence with its food truck-like Streetside Cafe Mobile Coffee operations, the company says in a news release.
CC’s Coffee House had been at that location for about seven years, Carnahan says.
“I don’t think it met their standards or expectations for all their stores,” he says.
Carnahan says he has already had discussions with parties interested in moving into the space, but no contract has been signed. He does not think it will be vacant for long because of the location across from North Boulevard Town Square and near the 19th Judicial District Courthouse, City Court, City Hall and Shaw Center for the Arts.
