A new survey shows that people who live in the 6th Congressional District are happier and healthier than the national average. The ongoing Gallup-Healthways Well Being Index found that the 6th District scored a 64.3 on the well-being index, compared with the U.S. average of 63.8. The index measures 1,000 Americans a day, asking them about their physical, mental and social well-being. Louisiana ranked 40th on the index, with residents scoring high on the “life evaluation” portion, but low on “basic access,” which measures the ability to obtain medical care. The U.S. average on the Well Being Index has been plunging since the ongoing financial crisis, hitting an all-time low in December. Click here for more information.
