The Calloway Inn & Suites at 10920 Mead Road, off Sherwood Forest Boulevard and near Interstate 12, is under new ownership.

Baton Rouge Hoteliers LLC is the new owner and Raj Hospitality LLC is the new managing entity. They took over the hotel on Thursday, says Britt Thompson, spokesperson for the companies. According to land records filed with the East Baton Rouge Parish Clerk of Court, Baton Rouge Hoteliers purchased the hotel—which has 125 rentable rooms—for $3 million.

“We’re in the process of revamping each department,” Thompson says, adding that the company expects to increase business by 12% to 20%. “We’re also going to add some food and beverage operations over here and attempt to get the meeting space ready for conventions and/or day meetings.”

Calloway has three meeting rooms that total about 3,500 square feet, as well as a breakfast room. While the breakfast room wasn’t in use under previous ownership, Thompson says Calloway should be offering complimentary continental breakfast to guests within the next week and full-service breakfast later on.

Meanwhile, Club Coozan—a lounge operation that leases space inside Calloway—will continue to operate on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, but may expand operations depending on the hotel’s level of business increase, Thompson says.

Donaldsonville-based Raj Hospitality LLC also operates five other hotels in the area, including the Magnuson Hotel in Baton Rouge, which it purchased last month under UNR Hospitality LLC for $3.45 million. And the Calloway purchase won’t be its last.

“We expect there to be some future purchases,” Thompson says.

But unlike Raj Hospitality’s other hotels, which are nationally branded, Calloway will keep its local name for the time being.
“If it turns out that a flag [brand] is a better way to go,” he says, “we’ll keep Calloway as an undername.”

Glenda Calloway, acting under Glenda Calloway Deshotels, was the seller in the deal. In separate transactions earlier this year, Calloway purchased three parcels on the 9000 block of Florida Boulevard.
