Thursday — A public meeting on the proposed Interstate 10 interchange at Pecue Lane will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the St. George Kleinpeter Activity Center. The project is in the planning stage, and representatives from the Green Light Plan will be on hand to receive comments and answer questions about it.
Friday — A free seminar on changes to the federal estate and gift tax law will be held from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at Juban’s. Carey J. Messina and Kevin C. Curry, partners at Kean Miller, will discuss updates to the law. To register, e-mail rsvp@keanmiller.com.
Friday — Southern University will host a statewide elected officials’ conference on higher education from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Smith-Brown Memorial Student Union. The event, entitled “Higher Education in Louisiana: Saving our Southern,” is sponsored by the university’s Nelson Mandela School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs.
Saturday — The Tortoise and Hair 5K will begin at 8:30 a.m. at University Baptist Church. The event raises money to find a treatment for alopecia areata. For more details or to register, go to tortoiseandhair5k.org.
