Thursday — The LSU AgCenter will sponsor a half-day conference on rural poverty from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Woods Auditorium in the Energy, Coast and Environment Building. Thursday — Volunteers In Public Schools will host an open house at 1 p.m. at Capitol Elementary. The event will spotlight how three congregations from diverse backgrounds have united to support Capitol Elementary.
Friday — Barbara Reich Freiberg, East Baton Rouge Parish School Board president, will be the guest speaker at the Baton Rouge Black Chamber of Commerce’s monthly luncheon. Feb. 8 — Elliot Eisenberg, the senior economist of the National Association of Home Builders, will speak at a luncheon sponsored by the Capital Region Builders Association. The lunch will be held at 11:30 a.m. in the Embassy Suites Hotel. Also slated to speak are Attorney General Buddy Caldwell and Adam Knapp, president and CEO of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber.
