Postponed by a hurricane threat in October, the annual Ogden Park Prowl neighborhood arts festival returns to Mid City on Saturday in the heart of the holiday shopping season—and this time the weather should be perfect, with the forecast calling for a party sunny day and a high of 74 degrees.

“The vendors are hoping folks will show up in the Christmas shopping mood,” Barrington Neil, chair of festival’s organizing committee, tells Best of 225 This Week. “And the homeowners are decorating for Christmas early. That will be part of the event’s festive nature.”

The festival, which will take place from 1 to 6 p.m., features more than 100 artists, 24 musical and spoken-word performances and 13 food vendors. Neil says postponing the event in October due to the Hurricane Nate threat was a difficult decision because “we knew this was going to be the biggest and the best yet.”

“So, we are hoping that this new date will still be the biggest and the best,” he adds.

And if all goes well Saturday, organizers may even stage the festival in early December again next year.

“If everybody shows up on the first Saturday in December, we may decide that is the perfect weekend for the event,” Neil says.
