Baton Rouge’s three riverboat casinos collectively raked 26.7% less revenue in July than each did during the same month last year, marking the 12th-straight month in which year-over-year collections were down.
L’Auberge Baton Rouge, Hollywood Casino and the Belle of Baton Rouge brought in $19.9 million last month, down from roughly $27.1 million in July 2017, according to the latest report from the Louisiana Gaming Control Board.
The Belle of Baton Rouge posted the largest decline, with winnings falling 36.6% to just $3.2 million. The casino won about $5 million during the same month last year.
Hollywood, meanwhile, brought in about $4.7 million in July, an 18% decrease from $5.7 million. Revenue at L’Auberge Baton Rouge was $11.9 million, an 26.7% drop from $16.3 million.
All of Louisiana’s four riverboat casino markets posted declines in July over the same month last year: New Orleans, 2%; Lake Charles, about 2.5%; and Shreveport/Bossier City, 4%.
All but two riverboat casinos in the state fared worse this July than a year ago. Margaritaville in the Shreveport/Bossier City area saw a year-over increase of 9% and the Amelia Belle in New Orleans was up 8%.
Month-over-month revenue was also down in every market except for Lake Charles, where July revenues were 3.4% higher than June.
