Baton Rouge General Medical Center is partnering with the Hematology Oncology Clinic to expand its cancer program, the hospital announced today.
The agreement is expected to expand physician coverage and cancer treatments available at the hospital’s Pennington Cancer Center locations on North Boulevard, at the Bluebonnet campus and in Zachary. The center already offers one of the nation’s only programs for treating renal cell carcinoma and melanoma with Interleukin 2.
“The partnership is an important step in rounding out our comprehensive cancer program, allowing us to offer advanced therapies and the highest quality team along with progressive technology, clinical trials, emotional support and wellness,” says acting BRG President and CEO Edgardo Tenreiro in a news release.
The Hematology Oncology Clinic is an independent physician practice that specializes in treating blood disorders and cancer. It will remain in its current location at Baton Rouge General’s Bluebonnet Boulevard campus.
“We have worked with Baton Rouge General for years, and have always been impressed with the quality and technology available to patients,” Dr. Gerald Miletello, one of the clinic’s doctors, says in a statement. “This partnership will give our patients access to additional services through the hospital—from the new linear accelerator to support groups and wellness programs.”
Baton Rouge General has announced similar partnerships with other health care groups within the last year, including Gastroenterology Associates, LHC Group and Ochsner Health System.
