A total of five Baton Rouge-based contracting firms are included on Engineering News-Record’s new listing of the largest such companies by revenue in Louisiana and Texas.
Among them, Turner Industries is once again in the top spot—where it’s been since 2011—with regional revenue in the two states totalling $2.37 billion for 2014. Turner’s regional revenue was up $160 million last year compared to 2013.
“Our contract maintenance and turnaround divisions are steady and growing. Pipe fabrication, equipment and rigging divisions are heavily dependent on the overall construction market,” says CEO Roland Toups in a prepared statement. “We remain cautiously optimistic that market share will be maintained and strengthened in 2016-2017.”
Aside from Turner, two other Baton Rouge-based contractors saw their rankings rise significantly on this year’s list by the trade publication. On revenue of $471 million, Cajun Industries saw its ranking rise 13 spots to No. 21. Excel Group, meanwhile, saw its ranking rise 14 spots to No. 33 on revenue of $350 million.
Other Baton Rouge area companies on the list included Group Industries, with revenue of $83 million at No. 85, down one spot from last year’s rankings, and Wharton-Smith Inc., which posted revenue of $31 million and was unchanged at No. 116 from a year ago.
Among other Louisiana firms on the list, New Orleans-based Boh Brothers Construction Co. is at No. 38—down 12 spots from last year—on revenue of $278 million. The Lemoine Co. of Lafayette is at No. 44, down seven spots from last year, on revenue of $237.5 million.
