With Gov.-elect John Bel Edwards set to be sworn in on Monday, Louisiana Department of Revenue Secretary Tim Barfield is headed back to the private sector.
Baton Rouge-based CSRS announced this afternoon that it has hired Barfield as its executive vice president. Barfield was tapped by Gov. Bobby Jindal to be the revenue department secretary back in 2012. Prior to that, he served as a senior executive at The Shaw Group in Baton Rouge, which has since been acquired by CB&I.
“After several extremely fulfilling years serving the citizens of Louisiana, I look forward to returning to the private sector and my infrastructure background, working with the talented team at CSRS to expand the firm’s suite of services,” Barfield says in a prepared statement. “It’s exciting to be able to take this next step in my career and seize an opportunity to build solutions that will help address some of our region’s most pressing infrastructure needs.”
Barfield has also previously served as the chief development officer for Amedisys, as well as executive counsel to Jindal and is a past executive director of the Louisiana Workforce Commission.
CRSR President and CEO Michael Songy says the firm has found an increasing scarcity of funding sources to meet the financial demands of maintaining and upgrading public infrastructure and facilities.
“We believe that one of the most critical pieces to providing fully integrated project delivery services revolves around being able to develop a strategic, innovative and holistic funding approach that ensures timely and cost effective project implementation—from federal funds
or grants and conventional bond programs to public-private partnerships and private equity financing,” Songy says in a prepared statement. “In our opinion, there are few people who have both the public and private expertise necessary for this role, and one of them happens to be Tim Barfield. We look forward to having Tim join our team at CSRS and helping us build a more comprehensive and integrated suite of funding and delivery services for the clients and communities we serve.”
