The Atchafalaya Basin Program’s Research and Promotion Board approved a blueprint during its February meeting, and the state Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority will get a crack at it later this month, 10/12 Weekly reports. After that, the highly anticipated master plan for the Atchafalaya Basin will need approval from the Legislature during its regular spring session.
The plan calls for three new projects dealing with water management in the upcoming funding year that begins July 1. At this stage, it also includes the continuation of five other major projects. The total price tag is $2.48 million, of which $1.5 million would be used to create the “Atchafalaya Basin Natural Resources Inventory and Assessment Tool.” To read the full story, or the rest of 10/12 Weekly click here.—Jeremy Alford
