CRT Capital Group has said there was talk about a buyout but called it “highly unlikely” because of ongoing investigations. Amedisys and several other home health businesses are being investigated by the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance, the Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission over allegations the companies boosted the number of home therapy visits made to their respective patients in order to trigger higher Medicare reimbursements. Amedisys has strongly denied charges it changed home therapy visits to get more money. An Amedisys spokesman refused to comment on a potential buyout, saying the company makes it a policy not to comment on rumors.
