Downtown Baton Rouge’s 13th Gate has again been named among the scariest haunted attractions in the country.

Hauntworld.com, which features over 5,000 haunted house listings across the U.S. and Canada, named 13th Gate as the fourth scariest attraction in the nation. The 13th Gate was named No. 2 last year and No. 3 in 2016.

Hauntworld.com has released an annual ranking of most frightening haunts since 2006.

Owned and operated by Baton Rouge-based Midnight Productions, the 13th Gate has opened each fall since 2002. The company works year-round on its attractions and hires contractors from the movie industry to work on sets.

“You have to look at latest trends, the next big thing, and get the wow factor from customers,” owner Dwayne Sanburn previously told Daily Report.

This year, the company replaced Necropolis, a 40,000-square-foot haunted cemetary across the street from 13th Gate, with Carnevil, a spooky carnival that features virtual reality games and axe throwing.
