Tin Roof Brewing Company has brought home a 2018 Lantern Award for manufacturing excellence from Louisiana Economic Development.
The Baton Rouge brewer was among eight Louisiana companies presented with a Lantern Award at a ceremony held at the Governor’s Mansion on Tuesday evening. Since 1979, LED has annually given the awards out to a company in each of the state’s eight regions that shows “excellence in manufacturing and outstanding service to their communities.”
Led by CEO William McGehee—Business Report’s 2017 Young Businessperson of the Year—Tin Roof has been steadily growing since it was founded in 2010.
The company started canning beer in 2011, expanding to gas stations, grocery stores and other retailers—and not only locally, but nationally. As McGehee told Business Report last year, he was so stuck in the grind of everyday operations back then that the accomplishment didn’t fully register until he saw his beer on the shelves of a local Albertsons.
“That’s when it was like, ‘Oh, wow. This is real,’” he said.
With an expansion into Texas late last year, Tin Roof can now be found in seven states. The brewery has six core brews, five seasonal and three special single-batch beers.
LED has more details on all of this year’s Lantern Award winners, which also include:
